A wedding order of service is a booklet which informs guests with a step-by-step outline of what to expect during the wedding ceremony.
An order of service is a gorgeous piece of stationery to add on for your on the day wedding stationery requirements. It can be designed to compliment the colours and design of your wedding invitations and other wedding stationery for a co-ordinated and cohesive look.
Order of Service for a Church Ceremony
For a church ceremony, your church will be able to provide you with a template to follow for the ceremony. The order of service will cover all the different parts of the church service, including the chosen hymns and readings. I recommend printing the hymns in full for guests to follow during the ceremony.
For their wedding, Alex and Emily opted for white calligraphy on a hand painted green background to match their wedding stationery.

The order of service booklets tend to be 8 pages to fit all of the information on and stapled together. Couples can choose to add a ribbon to decorate.

Order of Service for a Civil Ceremony
The order of service for a civil ceremony tends to include a timeline of events for the full wedding day so guests know what to expect and when. The order of service also includes any readings taking place as part of the ceremony. It’s a nice touch to note who is reading them too.
For a civil ceremony order of service why not consider thanking your guests for sharing your big day with you. Some couples choose to list out their wedding party in the order of service, so all the guests know who is who.

For a civil ceremony the order of service can be a different format such as a double-sided card or a folded booklet. Modern calligraphy can be added as the couple name or to highlight other text such as the date in this example.

You could also add a venue illustration on the front cover for a personalised touch.

For either a church or civil ceremony the order of services can be handed out to guests on arrival to the wedding ceremony by the ushers or placed on guests seats ready for their arrival. In this example the design uses white modern calligraphy on a hand painted purple background placed on the chair.

For Rosie & Jonty the order of services were all ready to be handed out to guests on their arrival. The wedding stationery combined hand drawn modern calligraphy in burgundy on a pale blush pink crisp card.

The order of service makes a gorgeous wedding keepsake too for you and your guests, treasured for many years to come along with your wedding photos. I believe modern calligraphy adds a luxury touch.

There are also details you can add such as the music you are entering and leaving the ceremony to and/or a famous quote about love or weddings.
